Seven Sorrows of Mary Devotional Rosary Medal set / Seven Dolor Medals for making your own Seven Sorrows rosary! There are eight medals in total. Seven small medals (one is the centerpiece medal) that depict the seven sorrows of mary. The reverse side of these medals depicts Mary with her heart pierced by seven swords. In place of a crucifix, there is a large medal that depicts the crucifixion on one side and Mary on the other.
The Rosary of the Seven Sorrows of Mary is actually a chaplet that consists of seven groups of seven beads separated by a small medal depicting one of the seven sorrows of Mary. The seven groups of seven Hail Marys are recited in remembrance of the Seven Sorrows, which are:
1. The Prophecy of Simeon 2. The flight into Egypt 3. The loss of the child Jesus in the temple 4. Mary meeting Jesus as he carried the cross 5. The crucifixion 6. Mary receiving the body of Jesus from the cross 7. The body of Jesus being placed in the tomb
